Although residents were living in the town for many years, Berlin was not incorporated until 1868, three years after the end of the Civil War.
The Town of Berlin prides itself on being an example of what can be done when citizens work together for the success of their community. Due to the cooperative effort of local citizens, businesses, and the Town government, the renovation of the Berlin Town Center and the historic preservation of commercial and residential districts were made possible. Today, individuals who visit Berlin are able to enjoy the outcome of those efforts as they walk the beautiful tree-lined streets, Victorian town center, museum, and historic homes that characterize the Town of Berlin.
