Hebron, Maryland is a town located in the southeastern corner of Maryland. It is situated within Wicomico County and is part of the Salisbury Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2014, there were approximately 1,085 people living in Maryland according to the United States Census Bureau.
Hebron began to develop as a town in 1890 when the Baltimore, Chesapeake & Atlantic Railroad expanded westward from Salisbury, Maryland. It is said that the rail line was built across a country road where there was a store. After construction, railroad workers designated the small area as a depot and named it Hebron. The town began to develop quickly and became a popular farming and manufacturing hub.
Individuals who plan to visit Hebron will find many things to see and do around the town. It is home to four attractions that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These include the St. Giles House and Spring Hill Church. Both of these will be of interest to individuals who enjoy history. Outdoor enthusiasts will also find many things to do located a short distance from Hebron. The Nanticoke River Sanctuary and Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge are located within half an hour of the town and provide individuals endless outdoor recreational opportunities.
